  1. I don't have enough free space to try again with a new partition. Already said boot camp assistant doesn't SEE the Window's partition, so I can't remove it. Disk Utility thinks it's fine as well. It's as if 5GB magically disappeared. I can backup some of my stuff on my boyfriend's portable drive, but I'd lose all my apps and that sort of stuff. Really trying to avoid a reformat but all logical modes of getting my 5GB back don't even recognize it as missing in the first place.

  2. Are you running Disk Utilities from the Installation disc? I had to go through this shit when partitioning my laptop for Vista. No external HD was used. When going through the boot disc, it was able to find that the drive size was incorrect and repair it.

  3. In asking around to friends who use Macs and looking online, everything points to using a separate hard drive for Windows. In fact most of them are saying that you should install Windows with the drive with the OSX unplugged.

  4. Never in less than two ziploc bags while installing Windows. You might want to put it in another room also. Just to be safe.

    Yeah, um, not necessary. You just shouldn't try to partition a drive when it's loaded with shit. Seriously.

  5. Great for the separate drive suggestions, but it really doesn't help me with the intended problem. I now realize that it was a bad idea and Apple is probably idiotic for even allowing you to do a partition install for Boot Camp. Whatever, I trusted their suggestion and shouldn't have. I DO NOT have a separate drive. I'm on a laptop, so it's not exactly easy to even disconnect it, you know?

    I ran boot camp before Leopard on partition and it ran beautifully. Obviously, something has changed since they switched to the Leopard one.

    I've run disk utility from OS X itself, and on my factory install CD. The CD, however, is not Leopard, if that matters. Neither one even suggested that a partition had ever been made.

  6. If it can wait a few days (traveling etc right now) I think I have a bootable Drive Genius 2 image that you can "evaluate" but I couldn't say if it'll find anything that the other utilities haven't. I mean, it's something else to try at least.

    The beta has been over for a while. This was supposed to be the full thing. And bbobb, I've lost install discs for quite a few applications and don't want to resort to downloading ones I had previously paid for. :-/

  10. I was checking the FAQ, I'm sure you did as well. But it says that you have to now install Windows. Apparently, Leopard won't recognize the partition, set aside for Windows. From what I am gathering.

    I have no idea where you are in the process. If you did install windows, then well contact Apple.
