Yes. It's been tested and working on other machines.
First of all, I have an older mac. I don't do anything with it other than download music and run opera and an old version of photoshop. It has OSX 10.3.9.
OK, so my Ipod died the other day. I bought a new one today and the fucker won't run because it requires 10.4.8 or higher. Is there any way around this other than dropping $130 on OSX 10.5?
I have a PC just sitting around that I don't use since the mac is so stable. If there is no way around this, I'm gonna DL Itunes to the PC and move all my shit over there. If this is how it is, I'll stop using the mac altogether. How fucked up is it that faithful mac users can't keep an older OS and use newer mac products? There is no good reason for it to be this way.
If anyone has any workaround for this it would be greatly appreciated.
Dude, I totally ran my Apple BT Headset through the washer, and it totally started working fine again after a couple of hours.
edit: JM, what do you expect? As much as I like Apple products, they are terrible nickel-and-dimers. They charged for Airport firmware upgrades, they charge for iPod Touch firmware upgrades, and if I am correct, they still charge you for the full version of their OS's default media player (let Microsoft charge us to have WMP run in fullscreen and watch the uproar). Its sad that I can hook up an iPod to a non-current version of Windows, but the core Apple user that actually uses their OS is the one who gets shafted. Not to mention that they leave a $0.50 multi-touch pad out of the regular MacBook just to make the more expensive lines look better (well thats not so bad, its smart marketing).

totally?
Right, because the five-year-old OS is Windows XP, which has been around for over seven years due to Microsoft mismanagement and laziness. It didn't take long for 98, ME, or 2000 to get outdated and ignored by software (though ME for a different reason).
The fallacy in your argument is that you assume Apple has always followed the release schedule of how Microsoft has handled XP. Both Microsoft and Apple have been very fast with OS updates excluding XP, and I'm not sure where you're thinking the situation you're in doesn't have precedent.
The iPods from Sept 2006 still support 10.3 if you're still interested, but it looks like this sort of timely release schedule isn't for you so you may want to find some generic file-drag-and-drop player that will work with anything forever.
