Did this season follow the narrative of book 2 well or did it stray?

I haven't seen last night's episode, but for certain characters it's strayed big time. Daenary's story is way different than the books. Arry's story is fairly different too.
Mostly stayed within the book but certain things were added.
Arya wasn't cupbearer for Tywin in the books, most of the Dany shit was invented for the show. No one stole her dragons and there wasn't a weird warlock takeover of Qarth in the book
This is the post I make like at the end of last season saying how I'm going to read the books this time around (I have them all on kindle ffs) and never do it.
