They definitely hindered themselves with the ten episode season crap.

This is already the most expensive TV show ever. I'm not sure 12 episodes ever had a chance of happening.

I understand that it's also one of the most profitable shows ever. I don't see that as a huge hinderance.

They've said it's more about time that seasons are 10 episodes. It takes them almost a full year to shoot a season

Before they announced the HBO show i remember thinking the one cool scene from Feast for Crows that would be really exciting to see translated to movie/television was the Greyjoy boats doing their invasion in the south.

Yeah. That's still a viable plot line and also would make for some cool TV. Plus, Dominic West's agent turned down the Mance Rayder role and he was super mad when he found out. David & Dan don't post on the Westeros forums any more but they do follow up on what people there think about casting (see Siddig as Doran) and West is the overwhelming pick for Euron. Getting him back on my TV screen would be so hot.

I give no fucks about the Greyjoys. Even if it's the best stuff in the books i consider every minute they have spent on Theon/Reek the past 2 seasons to be a waste.

You can't count Theon's arc as part of the overall Ironborn arc. His plot is redemption, which was represented in the book by him helping Jeyne escape from Winterfell and letting Stannis execute him, likely. His uncles are foils for other arcs - Euron for the (failed) machinations of Highgarden, Victarion (unknowingly) for fAegon, and Aeron to demonstrate that R'hllor isn't the only God with insane followers.

That's what sucks. The Greyjoys / Ironborn are the most badass family in the books in my opinion, and show watchers only really get introduced to Theon/Reek, which really cheapens the whole bunch. I mean, it's The Game of Thrones, and the Greyjoy's are definitely a viable candidate for the Iron Throne, why cut them out so drastically?

I haven't liked the first episodes this season at all. Let's say they pull the Greyjoy stuff from the books, what gets cut in its place? Already they have pretty much dropped Bran out of existence.

Ya, good point. The show has definitely bit off more than they can chew. As far as Bran goes, I'm pretty sure they've stated he won't be in this season at all. Which makes sense, the kid playing him is going to be 32 any day now, and they can just CGI the shit out of him next season when he becomes EntBran.
