JESUS FUCK. It's not the fact that he dies. It's not the fact that he PROBABLY dies in the next book. It's the fact that the show writers have been blowing him up to be this mighty bad ass (and rightfully so, because he is) for the last 4 seasons, and then out of nowhere he dies like a little bitch. Barristan isn't pumped up to be some badass in the show, you're conflating the book with the show. I think Jamie mentioned him as the best swordsman he'd ever seen back in Season 2 and he had one kind of badass scene around the same time, but most show watchers just consider him the old dude with Khaleesi

I definitely hate it, but most of my disdain comes from the fact that you guys DON'T hate it. Is it just because it started strong or what? I don't get how you find this even remotely enjoyable. I'm genuinely asking here, not being a dick.

That link I posted shows about 5 different scenes from the show, where Barristan is mentioned as the most badass dude in the four kingdoms. My dad, who hasn't read a book in probably 45 years, was shocked they killed him off, because show writers made him a badass.
Because most of us can separate the show from the book and enjoy the show as a show.
