Haven't read the books but really like the show.
Speculation - is the key to victory against the white walkers killing the 4 "kings" or whatever they are? Is it coincidence that there are 4 great houses in the South and there were four of them overlooking their armies?

Yeah, that's my feeling too. I'm just injecting some hope where none exists. Heh.
I'm actually hoping he kidnaps Shireen. I'm worried they are going to go the fan theory route and she'll be burned trying to save Stannis (and, of course, accidentally saving someone who, of course, wouldn't know it), so she's oddly safer with the Boltons than with her own father.The only thing I'm kind of worried about are the Bolton's. If Stannis and Co. go down to Ramsay and his "20 men", that is going to be lame.
This. Like 1,000 times this.No lie, it was all very well done. I was really impressed with the weather, when the others rolled in and shit got dark, the cold was palpable.
Don't forget there are 13 of those "elders" or whatever, including the Night's King. See attached (one is on the far right of the image, cut off).
In the books, the Night's King was supposedly a Lord Commander of the Night's Watch who fell in love with an Other. Their motives and whatnot in the books are not as solidly clear as they are now in the show, so it's been fan theory that it was a Stark. The show is going the more direct route and making them the Big Bad. It certainly fits with Dany's portent of the destroyed Red Keep covered in snow. I'll be interested to see if they work in any kind of history via Bran next season.
How would I know?
They did. The previously on made sure to flash back to Jeor giving Longclaw to Jon, amongst other things.
