I've been wanting to read this for awhile now. Time to finally pull the trigger on that Absolute edition, I guess.
I'm surprised Amazon has it on sale for less than instocktrades.com.
Darwyn Cooke's the New Frontier is definitely old school super hero comics. Before the Xtreme 90s made everything steroids and boobs, it was good old fashioned impossible science fictiony super hero fun. IMO, DC: The New Frontier is the closest thing to Justice League Unlimited in comics form (which is a shame) to come out in the last decade.

I have both trades and the absolute edition. Absolte edition has enough extra to warrant the cost IMO.
I read it today while I was at work. I really enjoyed the art style. I love the retro 40's and 50's look. The story was pretty good to but I think I missed out because I've never really read any DC stuff outside of Batman: Year One and Super Man: Red Son. I could see how if I knew more it would have been a lot more fun to read like reading Marvel 1602.
But my lack of knowledge of DC characters outside the main few keep me thinking "Well is this a new character just for the book or is it an already established character?, I don't know". Though I really enjoyed Martian Manhunter in it the part where he is shape shifting into different things he sees on TV is just priceless.
