From Varuna via GAF who in turn got it from edit edit twe via shmups, who got it from Danmaku-gata:
Apparently, Arika started porting Ketsui in 2003. They had it running perfectly outside of one section of Stage 5. This alone would put it miles above Taito's ports of Ibara and Mushihimesama. Cave gave Arika permission to release it in this state.
But, hey, it's just not good enough for Arika.
Sucks, really, since I've been wanting to play this since playing Espgaluda PS2. I had no idea Arika was officially even trying to port it."No matter what, we couldn't re-create the 5th stage. Sorry. You can call me a braggart, but other than that, it was 'perfect'. The problem was on the 5th stage tate-ana. No matter how hard we tried, there was deadly, warping slowdown."

You guys are in for a treat when you finaly get your hands on it.
I said it on the other forum but I'm pretty sure what he means is when it got to the tunnel section that the game went to shit. The problem here is with memory and Stage 5 has at least 30-40 different enemies and 7 different backgrounds.
It's bad when PS2 can't handle a 2D game on dated hardware.
Also, MAME plz
Arika's ports try to emulate when the arcade originals slowed down, though. If they had gone the Taito route, the game would probably run full speed most of the time.
The encryption on the Cave PGM games is kind of a bummer. The hardware itself seems pretty well emulated.
ProGear MAME plz
Boo, Hiss.
Progear's been perfect in Mame for a long, long time.
really? I've been out of the loop for years.![]()
Boo, Hiss.
Yeah, you can even play it 100% perfectly on PSP barring crappy buttons.
