I was just at the game stores last night, and some stores are already cutting the PS3 price because they can't sell them.
They had the 60 gig system which is supposed to be 57000 yen for 50000.

I think even the N-Gage has outsold the 360 in Japan.
The question is: would Sony be content if its console sells like crap in its native country but better in America? MS is out to win over Japan, but being an American company, I don't think it's such a massive deal breaker for them. Japanese companies see things differently, however. I'd love to see what Sony Japan does if the PS3 sells better over here than it does there. Sega vs. Sega part II?
It depends on what you mean by crap in japan? Its not going to sell nearly as many consoles in japan as it will in the US just by populace alone. Personally i thin the 360's fault in japan is not that its so much an american company (i dont doubt that it had SOME to do with it) but more that its obvious japan and the US have different tastes, and the 360 is full of FPS and FPS type games, and slim pickings in other areas
i dont think itll have trouble selling in japan. Sure, its not flying off the shelves right now, but seeing that the 360 doesnt start picking up speed (doubtful from whats seen right now but anything possible), itll sell. It might not outsell the wii, but in terms of a true next gen console, the PS3 is seemingly the best choice. Impending price drops will only help. Just look at Famitsu top 20 most wanted, games. 7 on PS3, 4 on Wii, and 1 for the 360. Lost Odyssey. If Blue Dragon didn't put sales into overdrive, or Gear's high rating, I don't know that Lost Odyssey can do much more.
I don't think the Japanese are interested in next-gen gaming. I think the PS3 will do fine, but it won't be much. PS3 sucks though. If you buy one over a 360, you're an idiot. It's that simple.
