  1. Famous Last Words (or the Industrial version of Zany Videogame Quotes)

Check the following URL to see some really stupid quotes from some of the gaming industry's most dumbest individuals.
    http://www.stewlarts.co.uk/Features/richard.html

Here's some of my personal favorites:

“The Sony product (Playstation) is just too expensive to be taken seriously and I can’t see Sony focusing on a product that won’t have the quantities due to the high price. It will be a player but not a big one.” - Sam Tramiel (former Atari president)

“No matter how great Saturn is, or Playstation is, or Ultra 64 is, we will outsell them by an enormous amount with 32X.” - Tom Kalinske (former Sega prez)

“We’ll definitely have one over on Street Fighter II.” - Sean Griffiths (regarding Rise of the Robots)

“There is more gameplay in Maximum Surge than in Doom. Also, Doom does not contain even one second of full motion video.” - Tom Zito

  2. “The problem is that the higher the resolution, the harder it is to make games interactive.”

Words of wisdom from those BRILLIANT minds at Atari.

  3. Yeah, Lots of great ones there:

    Philips CD-I
"I think people look at the processor and think, ‘Ah, that’s not as strong as the PC, it’s not even as big as an Amiga’, and completely forget about the fact that here you’ve got FMV.”

    Ooohh, FMV !!!

  4. ANother good one about FMV games:

Sure, in our game (Quarterback Attack – crap FMV game – Ed) you can’t do something like turning around and running the other way down the field like you could in, say, Madden. You are confined to some preset options. But who would want to run the wrong way down the field? No true quarterback would do that?

  5. Bwahahaha...

FMV, your gift to gaming was killed before it's time...

  6. "Was Night Trap a good game? I thought so."

    -Tom Zito

That guy's hilarious! The only thing better than him is the Devry flunkout who says games can't be interactive if they're "high-resolution". Take a programming class, doorknob.

Ah, FMV memories...and they wonder why western console developers have had a stigma to overcome...

  7. That's some funny stuff...this is a great thread.

And Freeter, I really dig yo sig... Sexy witches with guitars always do it for me...

  8. Tom Zito has to be one of the biggest self-centered assholes in the gaming industry, along with Sam Tramiel and Trip Hawkings. All he ever did was brag about how his FMV-crapfests were better than real games like Zelda, Mario, Doom and Madden just because they featured no-name thespians and has-beens. Had any of you guys seen one of Digital Pictures' ads. Their biggest selling point is that their games were made in the good ol' U.S. of A. instead of "soda-drinking college students with bad haircuts".

Somebody needs to dig-out more of these hilarious quotes from old gaming mags.

  9. sam tramiel...i remember thinking this dude looked like richard simmons.

Was Digital Pictures the ones that made that FMV first person king-fu fighting game? Yes, folks, such a game really existed...

Oh, and I remember the most hilarious gaming mag quote of all time...in one old issue of Gamefan, the Postmeister said the following:

"You know those amazing full-motion cinemas that wowed you on the Playstation and Saturn? Well, that's what you'll be playing on the Nintendo 64!"

Holy shit, pry that hype machine out of your ass, Posty...that's turned out to be the most retarded claim ever.
