Thread: Help me out with a couple PSO Qs......

  1. Help me out with a couple PSO Qs......

    1) Is it worth playing for the single-player quest offline only?

    2) Is there multiplayer offline for the DC, and will there be for the Cube?

    3) What's the difference between the DC v.1 & v.2 and Cube Chapter 1&2? Are they the same game? I'm a little confused...

    1) Yes.
    2) No, Yes.
    3) I would like the answer to this too !!

  3. From what I gathered from the latest interview, Episode 1 is essentially Ver. 2, and episode 2 is a continuation from that point. Could be wrong though. Now I'm starting to look forward to it, seeing as how my friend Gus played it nonstop for months on end.

  4. You have a friend named "Gus?" I wish I knew someone named Gus. But, on the brighter side, I do know someone named Ralph!

I would say yes, but it is really meant to be played online since the storyline is really thin.

No multiplayer offline for DC, I would assume though GC can do this but am not 100% sure.

Personally I can't figure out why they are calling it Chapter 1 and 2 when v2 is just a upgraded version of v1 and the GC version has new stuff on top of that, like new characters, areas, weapons, etc..

It sucks the Xbox version and GameCube version aren't the same, they can't play against each other ether.

I like XBox's voice headset instead of typing while trying to play and the fact that it is included in XBox Live service so you don't have to pay extra to go online with PSO.

I like the extra stuff in the GameCube's version, but I am pretty sure you'll have to pay Sega monthly to play online.

    This sucks

I wonder if it will allow you to play splitscreen, and ONLINE at the same time.

I don't think so. Naka said he wants to make this the best 4-player game for the GC. That would make getting online with a 4-way split screen kinda useless, as you wouldn't be able to have anyone join your game 'cause it'd be full already.

    But here's to hoping!

  8. I'll fill you in on what I know...

    1) the gamecube ver will have everything from the first game plus there will be 4 or more levels that continue after the point where episode 1 ended.
    2) the gamecube version will still have split-screen, but it'll be for offline only. The main reason would be that you have too much trouble with other people joining in current games and it's a lot of processing power to keep 15 people per screen window of each player, so expect it to be offline only.
    3) aside from new weapons, there's also a new weapon trade window so you don't have to drop a wep and expect somebody else to pick it up like it's a golden freebie you didn't offer. Also, dropping a wep when you die isn't possible with either GCN or XBOX versions.
    4) you can save up to 4 players per memory car which is something I wish was done for the original PSO on dreamcast. I could also bet that you may use your characters to play multi offline so that you can transfer items and wep between players rather then having to go online, have somebody (you trust) hold a game for you, then go offline just to switch characters and come back with the risk either the game isn't there or having any of your weapons stolen.

I don't know if having 4 characters is going to fill up the entire memory card, but I'm hoping that nintendo will be kind enough to bring out a bigger one so that you can do more then just have 4 characters and still have space for another game. I'm thinking if Pelican comes out with a X4 card (the one with the switch button on the side), I'll be able to at least make every character class like I did with the characters from DC pso becuase it took quite a few cards to get them all. (and have a few variations in between )

as for the cost of playing, let's get this streight, if it's still going to cost $5 per month, then I wouldn't be compaining as it's pretty cheap compared to a REAL MMORPG and wouldn't break the bank for what you're playing on XBOX LIVE. (which I think was $50-$60 per year anyway )
don't wanna tangle with you, I'd rather tangle with him.
I think I'm gonna bash his head in...

    I understand that.

But what about two players playing splitscreen, connected online in a game with TWO other people.

That doesn't sound very far fetched at all.

  10. Does anyone know what's been done about cheating? I heard Naka-san say on Extended Play that measures have been taken to eliminate cheating. What measures was he talking about?
