If Bikini Island is still uninhabitable now, why wouldn't the island be that way if tests were done 9 years or less beforehand (1945-1954)?

I don't know if any nukes caused anything or have ever exploded. That olde timey spin wheel, 4 toed statue/etc lends to the idea that the island has always been weird or unique in some way. Atlantian, one might say.

I could buy the idea that there was going to be a nuke test on the unknown island and they were stopped and find out about wacky shit as a result or someone knows wacky shit goes on there and it was put in place as a failsafe--shit goes bad, set it off.

Or maybe the Nuke was used to power whatever it is that makes the island travel through time?

Hmmm, not sure what all this means. If they wanted to recreate a scenario similar to Flight 815's crash, they did a good job. Are they going to leave it at that, or are we going to relive the same thing again? And now with flashbacks as to what happened to Aaron, Kate, Hurley, and Sayid?

I'm guessing Kate saw Claire her to go and give Aaron to her Grandma, Hurley saw Charlie and told him to go and take a guitar (so it helps with the recreation), and Sayid was going to Guam to face charges for all the Jack Bauer shit he's been doing.

Oh, and Ben killed Penny, or at least really messed her up. This would cause Desmond to try and find the island, and possibly team up with Widmore, which would recreate Swayer getting revenge on Locke's dad.
