I love this band. Other bands in a similar vein I have been listening to are This Will Destroy You, God is an Astronaut and The Faunts (the Mass Effect end song band). The Faunts have a more synthy 80's sound, which I really dig. I also have been listening to Caspian to a lesser extent but I think I need to give their album time to sink in.

Edit: About the epic thing, I listen to them while reading books all the time and it's fucking awesome. It's my main way of relaxing out here. Life is just better with an Explosions in the Sky soundtrack.

I didnt think I'd like EITS, bc i'm not all that big of a fan of instrumental bands. But the power in their songs, and their guitar melodies replace any emotion or power vocals would have delivered.

Explosions in the Sky was on PBS HD earlier. I only caught the last fifteen minutes or so of the hour long "concert", so I'm watching it again in an hour, at midnight est. It's on Austin City Limits.

This is really slick. I've been listening to quite a bit of post-rock lately, too. This, mono, and GY!BE are absolutely amazing.

A band you should definitely give a listen to is Do Make Say Think. They're a little less post rocky, but instrumental, except for some melodies. They're another of my favorites.
