I would fucking love to do that job. I think lying in bed all day and churning out 22 pages of 3-6 lines of dialogue a month would rule. Brian Michael Bendis works like 3 hours a day and sepnds the rest on his 360. He pulls down 6 figures.

Low form of life? That's when you've got it all figured, man.

  2. StriderKyo's right. Being a comic book author is awesome. You get paid bank just to make random shit up:

"Oooh, it's some super mutant named Xorn, who has a star for a brain, who healed Professor X's paraplegic problem! Oh no wait! It's really Magneto! Oh shit, he killed Jean Grey! Oh damn, Wolverine just killed Magneto by cutting his head off! Just kidding, it wasn't Magneto. It really was some mutant named Xorn."

  3. And then retcon everything a few months later.

Hence why I said suck a testicle.

    Is this for real?
Yes. I was about to post the info on Cinemania.

    Agreed.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Alan Moore would bite your nuts off for this generalization.

Also, most comics creators make a pretty meager wage. From most every account I've ever heard, it's definitely the wrong business if you're looking to go into one for the money.

I exaggerate. I know how tough creative work can be. I also know it's actually tougher alot of the time to work with an artist than it is to just write fiction straight up; you're also confined by page space and page counts.

Still beats 99% of grindfest get-up-and-go-to-the-office-and-slave-your-ass-off jobs.

Depends. The guys working for the big two actualy live fairly comfortably. If you're writing two books at 22 pages a month and getting a decent page rate you're pulling down nearly 60k. You can get a much sweeter deal if you've got any kind of name.

But like Mr. Millar says above, the guys with talent get tons of movie and TV gigs. Shows like Lost & Heroes were created by guys whose main gig was writing comics. If you know how to write a comic script, you know how to write a storyboard for a film or tv show.

If you've got a contract with a small press or are indpenedent you're just ekeing out a living though.

I haven't really read any in a decade, but what I've seen and heard about just doesn't click with me. Imo, the industry took a down turn around '97 and hasn't recovered really.

Same difference. It doesn't change my point, but yeah, it's obvious that he's just saying shit to stir people up.

  10. As already stated, sounds like he's just a drunken, jokster. Who cares, really? Moving on.
