I'm falling pretty behind with RPGs myself. Too time consuming.
Speaking of Planescape Torment, look at the metric buttload of Interplay RPGs being re-released (in the UK at least).

  2. Right now I'm pretty disappointed with The Witcher, the majority of the characters are largely uninteresting, the quests are annoying as shit, the researching animals before you can kill them is stupid as fucking shit, I can go find every random peasant to talk to to figure shit out! possibly! or buy the books but the books are incredibly expensive .

The combat is alright though! Alchemy is kind of a cluster fuck but I think I'll get it better figured out later and use it more. The card thing is kinda cool I like the art style.

I don't think I've seen enough story to appreciate it cause right now it's just kinda forgettable, though Geralt is an enjoyable character.

Overall so far I'm muddling around in the temple district, this game is average, maybe worse.

  3. If you're not digging it by the time you get into the big city, you probably won't like it.

I think the alchemy is fun (really powerful potions, balanced by the toxicity level) and I don't remember being irritated by the quests.. Sounds like it's just not your thing.

  4. How far are you? What act?

You don't have to research enemies before you can kill them -- if you've researched them, that just allows you to extract special ingredients from their corpses to use in alchemic recipes.

Hopefully you'll warm up to it a bit as you get further along. I've already said how much I love it, but I guess it's natural for opinions to vary. All the same, sorry if I helped steer you into something you don't end up liking. Don't give it up just yet, IMO.

It will make killing them easier but it's still optional.

  6. It's only optional if you don't want to do the kill quests, you have to research them to do the kill quests.

So i'm at chapter 5, the games alright and I may play through it again trying to be more neutral, but there are a tremendous amount of bullshit deaths in this game. My favorite are the stuns with the orange icon that I have no idea what it actually is but this most recently one annoyed me.

As the rebels in chapter 5 after killing the order of the rose guys (Hey btw no save and we automatically force you through the door once you kill the last guy!) I was fighting the monsters and killed 4 of them at one time and was going to do the dodge (Assuming it works since like 30% of the time it bugs out and yo ucan't do anything and just stand there and die) but hey CUT SCENE, and they all exploded during the cut scene! wonderful

But yeah this game is pretty much an 8 I do kind of like the way they handled decisions though most of the actual chit chat for it really isn't that interesting. Most of the actually interesting stuff in the game is dealing with old friends, I'm a fan of Dandelion.

  9. You mean "that doesn't link to an Unreal Tournament game". the debate the never ends!

  10. #1150
    Fuck multiplayer. </end debate>
