It isn't just about political correctness. It's like if someone made a list of the greatest video games ever made, just listed console games, and then threw Space War in there. Computer gamers would be like, WTF?!

Go look up pictures of old Mac OS Finder. They have been calling them applications for a long time. Just because you paid no attention to Macs doesn't mean it's not true.

No, I'm saying fuck them. I'm aware that apple marketing used the term. The lingo of the entire industry, forword and backword shouldn't have to yeld to them.

1. It's not marketing. It's the term the engineers at Apple chose to use, just like how Microsoft chose programs.

2. Nobody has to do anything. If Microsoft wants to ditch their nomenclature and use Apple's, that's on Microsoft.

The whole thing on home computers has been rewritten where most instances of program or software has been replaced with "software application" and it's being applied to any software that runs in a visual os.

That is a fairly new thing. No one would have talked that way 10 years ago.

I found this article about how the Steam version of FFVI is constructed interesting. I suspect some of the other versions are the same but are obviously harder to mess with.

That's really cool. I'm looking forward to what the modding community has in store for that game, it could end up turning it into the remake I've always wanted but knew Square 2016 couldn't pull off.
