Yeah, like I said, Paypal didn't work at all when I was at work. Went home, all of a sudden Paypal works.
Also horray Sins of a Solar Empire sale! Will definitely buy Trinity today and maybe a couple Assassin's Creeds.
Somebody please help me play Wing Commander.
The mouse sensitivity is all over the place. If I halve it in Dosbox, I wind up with a cursor that is super slow in the barracks and still way too finicky in flight. I think what's killing me is how the cursor functions. That is, you move a cursor that, when it hits the edges, changes your ship's orientation rather than directly changing your ship's orientation/aim. Using the mouse to control seems pretty god damn awful, in other words.
The joystick might be an option, but DosBox doesn't have any sensitivity settings whatsoever.
So as far as I can tell, the keyboard is my best bet, but it has its own problems (lots of sticky key action).
This game has had its engrossing moments so far, too, so I'd really like to stick with it.

XCom for 17.50 at GMG!
X-COM is GMG's daily deal, so adding the 30% off should put it at like $17.50. [edit] Beaten!
That SOASE:Rebellion deal is tempting but I've spent too much already. I think Secret World is the only thing left I'll buy, but it doesn't seem to want to drop even to the $15 it was going for pre-Christmas sale.
Tain: The mouse control is unusable, I'm not even sure why it's in there. Get a joystick.
WC is designed to be played with a joystick in your right hand and your left hand on the keyboard. These days, a joystick with many buttons and joy2key is a great alternative.
All I have (I think) is a 360 pad, and it's a little too sensitive. I'll have to figure something out. I'm just really hoping whatever I wind up with works okay in DosBox.
Yeah, I remember trying mouse control back on my 386. Terrible.
I don't think today's controllers are very good for space sims since they require some analog finesse but Wing Commander's simplified flight model might be OK with a 360 pad.
Let's all talk about how great Wing Commander 2 is! Because it totally is.
