I take this back. The controls are just busted and the configuration program doesn't even save, so it's completely useless.
Maybe a patch will fix it, but as it is the game is trash.

It works fine for me with a 360 pad. If you're having trouble getting a different controller to work, use x360ce to emulate a 360 pad. If it's not saving other stuff like video options, I don't have a suggestion.

The console patch added analog movement instead of 8-way. This was already in the PC version from launch.

The configuration saving problem doesn't affect everyone, but there seems to be no reliable solution for those who have it. The problem I was having was with the keyboard controls. There's some weird lag that makes it sluggish and unresponsive. It's not just less accurate like the dpad control on Saturn, it's simply unplayable.

There is only the Steam version, right?
