I mentioned Unity of Command in another thread and I just noticed that it's the daily deal on Steam.

Anyway, it's basically a hardcore military sim crossed with Advance Wars. The scary complexity from something like Hearts of Iron has been stripped down to the bare essentials. It's still very much a military strategy game, what with the focus on supply chains and front lines, but the brilliant UI (clean, tooltips errywhere) and simplified mechanics make it approachable without feeling like babby's first strategy game.

$6.80 and there's a demo on Steam.

I saw a GAF thread about that. GFWL has been a mess for several days now. The weird thing is that it does not affect everyone or every GFWL game on a computer. Last I heard, MS hasn't commented.

I haven't had a good connection to GFWL all week, but this has also been my first week trying to use it. I thought it was normal.

In related news, Dark Souls is a lot of fun.

Man, the AI in Unity of Command is a real dickhead. I can't remember the last time that a game made me feel this dumb. And what's worse is that the game is clearly 100% fair - it's not cheating in any way.
