What an unholy marriage this is. If Ubisoft pulls the same exclusive bullshit with Uplay that EA has with Origin, I can save more money though.

  2. I have three games on Origin and have had no issues or anything that would make me need to be Steam only. While I like convergence, it just isn't going to happen to the level I want.

The last time EA released a game I had to play was a Genesis hockey game. And that's one more time than Ubisoft ever has, so this is pretty low risk for me. Like I said, it really just saves me money when they make these splintering decisions.

  4. I am pretty sure that EA has made at least five games this generation that you would like more than the average game you call "worthy of my time". If Origin did things like format your hard drive randomly or something, I could see where you are coming from, but to forgo those games for games that you probably liked less solely because of the DD platform (and we aren't talking about two different consoles here, you can run Origin and Steam at the same time) doesn't benefit you much.

Not trying to be preachy, but that's what I think.

  5. Steam isn't entitled to all the business so there's no splintering decision. On an open platform, you will have competing storefronts. Origin is alright, the interface is better than Steam and it's resource-light.

If anything, the existence of Origin (and Uplay and Win8 shop) has led to the rapid advancement Steam has had the past 6 months. In that case, I'm fine with it.

I'm not going to support EA of all companies taking my freedom as a consumer away. I don't buy anything that is GameStop exclusive either. I even ordered my CPP for the 3DS from the UK to not give GameStop the business. Valve was first on the scene, at least in a significant way, so they set the standard. EA doesn't get to come in and just decide they get their own as far as I am concerned.

edit: To me, the platform isn't even PC; it's Steam and GOG. The faster that platform can make itself OS neutral, the better. Then Microsoft could fuck off completely too.

  7. It is a wonder you buy anything then

  8. I only buy Atari because they did it first.

They didn't take anything away. They have the right to leverage their content in a manner they see fit.

Online distribution is cheap. In B&M you have to suck up to 5 different retailers because you're not going to open up your own stores.
