With older stuff you don't need DRM, because the games are already available DRM-free to begin with, so there's absolutely no point.
On a new game, they really only hope to stop piracy for a month or two, since that's when they make most of their sales. Occasionally it does work (Bioshock, Gears of War, etc).

Why did PC games ever stop letting you do that?
Because RAM is grossly exceeded by the decompressed assets needed at any given time.
The lack of Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max on that list gives me hope that they'll get a remake.

Do they even make good flightsticks anymore? I can go dig out my ancient Sidewinder next time I'm in Miami, I guess, but I really want something good for Freespace 1 and 2 on GOG (plus the possibility of TIE FIGHTERRRRR)

I have a decent flight stick I bought in ~2004 for the Jump to Lightspeed expansion of Star Wars Galaxies. It's a Saitek, but I cheaped out and didn't get the one with the separate throttle.

I don't think it woks with DOS stuff but you can probably get it working with DOSBox.
