We could sit here and compare the best 50 games for both systems and it could probably go either way. I'm not even saying one is better than the other, I'm just saying that "Super Metroid LOL" isn't even the tip of the iceberg.
I think we need to settle this like gentlemen.

    Pistols at dawn.

The Genesis must not have had half its library released in Canada.

  3. Everyone that thinks the SNES won loves to say either "Super Metroid", "Random Square RPG", or "Yoshi's Island". Genesis fans don't have to name one great game, they can just say "Genesis library".

  4. I have to agree. I played my Genesis way more than I played my Super Nintendo. I also had four times the games for it than I did the SNES.

  5. I'll always be a Genesis man at heart, but both systems had their high points and low points. One of my happiest videogaming days was the day I brought home my Genesis with John Madden, Phantasy Star 2 and Altered Beast(fun at the time). I had so much fun that day and many many days after.

I didn't get a SNES till Secret of Mana came out. After that, I was into the SNES for the superior MK2, Super Punch-Out, SSF2, NBA Jam, Super Castlevania, Yoshi, etc.

Once I had a taste of both sides, I got games for both systems. So many good times. I don't really give 2 fucks about the specs or what system could do the others games, I just got the games and had a blast with the games. I'm simply a Genesis man first because it was my first experience with 16 bit games and esp the first wave of arcade ports.

  6. SNES had over a year exclusive on Street Fighter II. That was all I needed.

Undeniable (if you're sane) truth. StriderKyo and SpoDaddy are well known for fanboyism of the 16-bit era whenever the topic arises.

Nope. The SNES trailed the Genesis in sales for three consecutive holiday seasons ('91-'93) and finally had a better season in '94. The reason? Donkey Kong Country. It sold better that year, but the Genesis still had a larger userbase. It wasn't until '95 that the SNES finally pulled ahead, and it was because Sega abandoned the market.

I'm not making this up; it's history. Read the "Next Generation" chapter of Kent's Ultimate History of Video Games if you don't believe me.

Canada is missing alot more than just 1/2 of Genesis library.

And you kids were too poor to afford both systems back then or something? I had both, and the Neo Geo and then got the Duo later so I was not missing anything.

This is all delusional fanboy bullshit. Everyone knows the Amiga was the 16 bit machine of choice.
