I said something similar earlier, but i do think it would have been a better movie without the unneeded conflict. Ponyo and Sosuke go on an exciting adventure to find Sosuke's super attractive mother is good enough for me. Ponyo can love Sosuke as much as she wants without having to worry about punishment if he doesn't love her back. the sea foam thing was soooo unnecessary.
