Looks like the Yanks have themselves a pyromaniac! ...ok..maybe not but Proctor is nuts for doing this.

His temper already smoldering, Scott Proctor set off an inferno near the Yankee Stadium infield following Saturday's 7-0 loss to the A's, torching various items of his equipment in a smoky blaze.

Perhaps the hot-tempered Proctor hoped to excise some of his recent struggles, lighting a small bonfire a few feet from the top step of the Yankees dugout. He then watched from the railing for several minutes as the contents grew charred and unrecognizable.

I don't give Torre too much longer. Steinbrenner has to be on the verge of spontaneously combusting at this point.

And, countering Biff's position, the Mets are the only NL team with the goods to compete with the best of the AL. Last year was a Cardinal abberration. Keep in mind that Delgado and Beltran (with the exception of the last few games for Beltran) have been asleep pretty much all year and Wright took the first month of the season off, too. If those three are going and Reyes is Reyes, they can stand up to anyone in the AL.

There Bullpen is terrible and their starters outside of Perez and Maine are soft tossers who would be smashed by an AL where shortstops are who are averaging 10 homers and 40 rbis, much less their 1b and OF counterparts. As I said, it will require Pedro or a trade for them to start scaring the Red Sox.
