Thread: Official MLB Thread: June 2007

  1. Not that I really give a shit about the All Star Game, but how is Maine not an NL starter?

  2. He shouldn't be starting the game (Penny has clearly been the best) but he should definitely be on the roster.

  3. I'm a huge Oswalt fan, but no way does he deserve to go over Maine.

Also, Neifi Perez has been suspended for substance abuse. It was a for stimulant rather than steroids, but there isn't a substance in existence that would make Neifi a good player. Why even bother...

Both probably have very little to lose. This year was supposed to be the Jays chance to catch Boston and the Yankees. Sadly of the 3 only the Yankees have followed the script, so Riccardi and Gibbons may be looking for employment after the year.

  5. They should be. Gibbons is just a disaster. Ricciardi has fallen on some bad luck, but really he should have known what he was dealing with re: Burnett.

  6. Maine not being on the All Star team is laughable. I predicted Maine would be the NL Cy Young before the season started and so far I'm not that far off. He's become an elite pitcher.

  7. Can't call him elite just yet.

So the Twins are up on the White Sox 20-10 in the eighth. 30 runs, 34 hits, six errors (five by the Sox).

More scoring fun: Kansas City is the only team to score 17+ runs on more than one occasion (three times - they actually don't have a bad offense...they just can't stop anyone else from scoring). Oakland also did it (against KC) and Colorado got 17 a couple days ago.

  8. At the halfway point he's 10-4 with a 2.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 93 K's in 109 innings, and a .214 BAA. He was also great late last year. Elite IMO.

  9. Elite is a player who consistently produces excellent results over a period of time. Let's see what his career numbers are going into the 2010 season, and then we'll start talking elite.

Right now he's nothing but a promising pitcher who had a nice first half. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy plenty, but it's far to early to rank him elite.

fantasy edit: Geez man, I am not trading Hanley, to you or anyone. Kindly stop asking.

Jose Reyes= Elite player and it only took him like 2 1/2 years, so there are exceptions to the rule.
