  1. Man, that sucks indeed. Talk about horrible timing.

Their offense should still be fine, Utley was 2nd in the league in RBI's but they can afford a hit to their offense. I was mostly looking forward to seeing if Utley could break the single season doubles record (which he definately had a great shot). He had a chance at MVP but I think regardless (if he stays reasonably hot) Howard will win it again this year whether the Phillies make the playoffs or not. Howard should hit at least 50 HR's again and knock in around 130.

No he won't...He's having a great season and should win MVP if he keeps it up but there's no chance in hell he's hitting 40 HR's in 2 months.

Edit: misread...the real one...MAYBE, still a long shot.

oh it's a long short for sure, but a pace of a HR every 8-10 at bats from here on out isn't out of the question the way he's been playing.

    (25 HRs in 59 games)

  7. This was bound to happen to Utley with the way he dives over the plate.

  8. Cleveland traded for Kenny Lofton. Nice pickup - he gives them some much-needed speed and experience. I imagine he'll hit second, between Sizemore and Victor. Lofton's not a God of Intangibles like the immortal Jason Kendall, but this should work out well for the Tribe.

Maybe Tex is on his way out next.

  9. Phillies pick up Tadahito Iguchi from the White Sox for some minor league pitcher (Dubee). Iguchi not exactly having a good year but its a fine pickup for the Phils and he should do well enough until Utley comes back.

For the first time in a what seems like forever Moisty Pee Pee Hands (Moises Alou) is in the Mets lineup. I bet he gets hurt in his first at bat.

That wasn't a bad trade for the Phillies. I like Iguchi, even though he's nowhere near being a replacement for Utley. Utley had surgery today and is expected to be back at the end of August. Micheal Dubee wasn't even a big prospect in the organization so it's not a big loss (though he was the son of the pitching coach).
