Thread: Official MLB Thread: June 2007

  1. I think it'd have been more productive to leave him in the rotation and just trade for a closer (this year there seem to be tons of late-game relievers available for trade). I'm of the opinion that most closers are interchangeable and vary in quality from year to year, while a top notch starter is truly rare.

  2. Moving Myers to the pen was a terrible, terrible move. Totally indefensible regardless of how well he works out as a closer. Gee, he went down for half the year with arm trouble like two weeks after moving to the pen. Wonder if that had anything to do with it.

  3. In all honesty, Joe and all his disciples(including Willy Randolph) are pretty overrated coaches/managers. The only one that might be decent out of the bunch is Girardi.

  4. It's hard to win baseball games, especially with all the parity right now. Willy's a new manager and he's learning on the fly. He's got too many listless veterans on the team.

  5. Tex to the Braves, see ya Met's.

If his veterans are listless, it's his damn fault.

Mets are still fine. Braves are selling their future this year and they're still full of holes.

  7. Eric Gagne in a Red Sox uniform sounds sexy. Hopefully the Jermaine Dye deal works out as well.

  8. Looks like Sox get Gagne. Big time stuff.

    Makes me all squishy inside.

I can't believe that's all it took. Wow. I read YAWA's post and started wondering, Bowden or Buchholz. I'm amazed we still have both.

PS. I still want Saltalamacchia from Texas

  10. Not to undermine Murphy or especially Gabbard, but I agree that Gagne is a relative bargain. I'd have surely thought we'd be parting with Bucholtz or maybe even Ellsbury for that guy.

Can either SpoDaddy or Rich explain the Scott Proctor for Wilson Bettimet deal? Can we infer that this is NYY conceding that A-Rod will not be in a Yankees uniform in '08?
