Thread: Miyamoto: Third Parties Shouldn't Use 'Fourth-String' Teams on Nintendo Platforms

  1. It's still in 3rd parties best interest to put in real effort on a machine that's selling like nuts. Regardless of how weak it might be, or how every one on TNL hates it the Wii is potential cash because it's selling by the boatloads.

  2. I just assumed the "not-first string system" thing was about sales. Nintendo systems have been on a decline since the SNES and so developers have been making their big games for other systems and getting the sales to match them. If they want to compete with Nintendo on a Nintendo system then they'll have to put those games on the Nintendo system. The Wii may be the first time in a while that developers will have any reason to bother with doing that if it can maintain its momentum.

Yes, but 3rd parties can see the types of people who are buying the Wii and know that they don't have to put any skilled teams on it to have the games sell. They can churn out whatever crap they please.

They could only ride a wave of initial sales success so long. If several iterations of Wii Madden suck then they're going to lose in the long run.

Madden has sucked for many, many years now.

They still sell like mad. You give far too much credit to taste.

How is the DS 4th string hardware? That lil' thing kicks ass tech-wise!

And if you say PSP > DS I'll say the DS can do all of the 3D it needs to do for a portable system and remains attractively priced, as a portable needs to be.
