If I was those guys and I knew something like stoning was coming, I'd probably take my chances with running.

I call that stupidity in these parts.

I guess theres always the possibility that the rest of the onlookers would have joined in beating the thieves' brains in if they would have run or fight, but I think I'dve had to take that chance if I was dumb or crazy enough to get caught stealing there.
