The original mode is still in the game you asspirate.
They've had plenty of time to adapt to the trivial discrepancies between the Dreamcast and arcade versions, while they would've had almost no time to adapt to the massive overhaul that is STHD. This is better for the very people complaining about it -- the people who admit to being unable to open a round with a Sonic Boom in the DC version because the time between "Round 1" and "Fight!" is .2 seconds longer than it is on CPS2. If they haven't adapted to that after playing the DC port for seven years, how would they have been able to adapt to massive Tiger Shot recovery or Guile's fucking overhead after two months of STHD?

Competitive play is much better when everyone's new to the game and doesn't know all the glitches and exploits.
"Needing time to understand the game" sounds like code for
"I feel naked and vulnerable when I'm not able to abuse exploits."
shut up.
Dreamcast ST ain't arcade perfect, son.
I never understood why they never ran emulators. It seems like the logical choice.
Neither is CvS2 PS2, but they had no problem running that. Very few ports are 100% faithful, and if they insist on making Evo a console-only tournament, DC ST is as good as it's going to get. It's not a disaster like DC A3, and it's definitely better than CCC2.
What's wrong with CvS2 on PS2?
