Thread: Power of Cell Processor 'Limitless,' says 'Lair' Dev

  1. EA agrees with Factor 5, saying currently the PS3 is running at about 2 out of 10.
    PSN = knarlockk
    Steam= kevinb150

  2. well that UT3 shot looks pretty damn cool.

    edit after reading the entire article: Wouldn't be surprised if Epic pulled UT3 from PS3 after those comments. And I know he said UT3 will be released on PS3. I'm saying after he got off the phone and talked to Cliff B and shareholders. They make the decision to pull it.

  3. Everyone that was in this thread should look at the new one where Epic's Mark Rein responds.

  4. I can only assume Gears was the only Unreal game this guy has ever seen. The very first Unreal had pretty large outdoor environments with a pretty impressive level of detail for the time. However, the scale doesn't change in the way Lair does, so it's really not very comparible.

A lot of companies coming on board now will probably start on the PS3 and move to the 360. The lucky thing for us is we didn't have to think about the 360 at all."
    I don't think he was necessarily dissin on the Unreal 3 Engine. They probably had to design an engine that did more streaming of textures and such, to take advantage of the way the PS3 hardware works.

    Looking back at Halo 2, when you swooped down towards the ground or a canyon wall, you'd see the textures jump from blurry, to more realistic. While a simular event(for the most part) in Rogue Squadron 2, didn't have an abrupt change like that. I'm sure Factor 5 doesn't want this same thing happening with Lair.
