Busted Ass TV from NewEgg / Refurb Warehouse

So I knew that buying a refurb meant taking a chance on an items having blemeshes, or perhaps not including all accessories, but this is beyond lame...the box came wrapped in pallet plastic, so at first I didn't see their clever use of "fragile" stickers.



I'm not sure who did this, Refurb Warehouse or UPS...I have problems with stuff getting destroyed in transit, but wow...this one looks pretty sinister. Either the retailer sold is at refurb price and told me, in essence, to eat a fucking dick...we aren't gonna even try to inspect this thing to see if it works...or, UPS possibly fucked shit up on their end and tried to cover it up. Either way I'm a little perturbed. The box damage obviously shows what the hell is wrong with it, which is...



Pretty trippy, huh? I think I'll just keep it and pick up doing LSD, cause thats about all it might be good for...actually scrath that...iTunes is free. This just happed to be 960 bucks including shipping...

Any suggestions on handling this? Am I gonna get screwed?

refurbished means that it works. Yell at them unless they agree wholeheartedly to give you at least a new WORKING tv.

If the retailer really won't do anything, your best option is to dispute the charge with your credit card company.

Newegg is typically very good about returns and exchanges. That thing is so screwed up at the very least they'll take it back and refund your money.

Confirmed. Newegg should treat you right. If not though get the BBB involved, that will get the issue cleaned up real quick.

Yeah, I've had to return a thing or two to Newegg before (nothing this big/expensive) and I didn't have any problems with an exchange.

I've bought stuff from Newegg which has arrived DOA and they were just fine about shipping it back and sending me another, but like Xeno it was never anything on that scale. Regardless, call and complain ASAP.

I spoke with customer service today, and they were very nice, but apparently it takes 3-5 business days to process the return claim, after which they will refund the money back to my CC acount and schedule a pickup for it. Then I have to go back and buy a new one, which is only 80 bucks more, but shit...perhaps it will work this time. That's fine, I'm just anxious to get this thing up and running with my new eVGA 8800gts arriving on Monday to go along with my new Core Duo 6600 rig I'm putting together. They did, however, try to not return the shipping cost back to me, which is BS, cause I shouldn't have to a pay a fucking dime for this 53 lb paperweight.
