House of the Dead 4 Special

Has anyone else seen this around? It's a sit-down, 2 screen, revolving chair version of HotD4 with slightly different levels and story. They have one up at the GameWorks at the Streets of Woodfield in Schaumburg.

I took a little quick video of the chair turning so you guys could see. There's some stuff you can't see on film... they have wind blowing thingies set up from the front for explosions and on the chair behind you when something is supposed to be there. Overall it's pretty rad, like a mini ride. I was shooting the automatic with my left hand, and yes that is my scream when we move:

Anyway, I think it's fucking rad except you don't get to continue. One shared lifebar until you die. Weak =(

Depends who you ask. I've heard some in the business lament that this is one of the reasons it has become so small, actually. Giant machines that take up a ton of real estate and cost thousands of dollars doesn't make the arcade business model any easier.

and again, the cost keeps people away. it's a catch-22.

When I am 10 times morphix rich I will open a TNL arcade for just TNL people and have all of these $10 games on free play. It will be glorious. And the business model will be genius.

I suppose how much a rig like that would cost a small business like that nowadays never came across my mind. Damn. It's kind of depressing, actually.
