Got a Digital Rebel XTi. The lens used for the photo is this 'un, as recommended to me by a coworker. It's real cheap, but seems to have a lot of positive feedback on both Amazon and DPreview forums. It's real simple--no variable zoom, no image stabilization--but it's got a real low aperture which makes for nice depth-of-field, low-light shots (seems perfect for indoors stuff).

KEH is really slick for used stuff, probably the best outside ebay, but with the legitimacy of a really top notch camera store. For anything new slr-camera related, I've only bought from local shops to support them and from B&H online and in their Jewish Paradise in NYC. Both online and off, they are excellent. For a nikon standard lens get the older AF nikkor 50mm 1.4, the new D version offers little upgrade unless you really need extensive flash metering, but suffers from lesser build quality and I believe is a bit more expensive on the used market. The 1.8 is also a fantastic buy.
Nice lens MarkRyan, that's a pretty crisp image. Jealous! I know of the lens and it's fantastic for indoor family functions/social events. It's a great budget lens for low-light conditions.
I want to make such violent love inside you
little swimmers imo.
