Ranked/Random matches are only be 1vs1, but I'm not sure about friend matches.

Picked this up for my fiancee and myself this morning.
Excellent so far, although I really hate the alternate blocks.

The stylus control is surprisingly good, although I'm not convinced I like it more than the trusty d-pad and buttons.

Online play is pretty smooth as well.

I turn the item blocks off. I can see how they could be fun, but I'd rather play the game the original way. Playing with the stylus isn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I'm definitely going to keep using it because I know I'll get stomped online if I don't adapt and keep using it.

I really need to get a mic for the DS now. I never thought I'd type that sentence
