Thread: Miyamoto: "I never try to look for what people want."

Also: Everyone whining about F-Zero GX should be banned. Yeah, it's insanely difficult, but not in a bullshit blue shell way. The AI doesn't cheat and there is very little luck involved. Except for Story Mode Chapter 7. Fuck Story Mode Chapter 7.
If Aunoma lost his "nerve" then he has become the worst thing. MM was sickeningly good but it was "too" different so the past two Zelda's have been "OoT with water" and "OoT with a wolf and a cute Imp". Because WW and TP are well made but Zelda as a franchise will implode if they don't do something radical with it next game.

FZero GX shows that Amusement Vision can trump Nintendo at one of their own games.

That's really not a concern since Nintendo zealots will still buy it.

  3. Well, American zealots will. Twilight Princess didn't do very well in Japan, as admitted in that interview.

edit: Of course, Miyamoto sees it as gamers being against big games, lols.

Yeah, we're up to 4 games in a series that play and feel exactly the same.

They need to really do something new with the next Zelda game to make care again.

Or better yet, go make some new properties and leave Zelda alone for like 5 years.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

It could very well be. It still sold several hundred thousand copies so its not like he's saying they have an irrational hate for those kind of games; it's just an explanation of why it hasn't really taken off. They understand the japanese market well enough to create and market Wii Sports as their premier launch title, and were able to do that after having tested the waters for the past few years with all kinds of odd concepts to see what sticks(DS, Bit Generations, Nintendogs, Brain Training, recipe/language software, etc). If I had a problem with what Miyamoto said, it's that fact that Nintendo seems to have been going out of its way to find out what the japanese market wanted. In doing so they've also created a lot of new series so I don't think they're stuck on just rehashing games. They wouldn't be where they are right now if they were.

ALso, Zelda has never been as big in japan as it is in America( in the US Twilight Princess has apparently already sold more than the best selling japanese zelda game ever). Zelda is the best selling Wii title in the US,drove sales of the system apparently even though it also came out on Gamecube, critics love it, even Mzos and epmodes thought it was really good if I remember the official thread well enough and so I'm guessing that if they were to rehash it several more times over the next few generations in the states, they'd probably be fine. Hell, look at Pokemon. When Japan finally completely loses interest in the series they can just start giving it the "FOR WESTERN AUDIENCES" stamp like they do with Metroid.

    WORD.

"All creatures will DIE, and all things will be BROKEN: That is the law of the SAMURAI."

But back to Nintendo ranting, I just wish they would make a hard(er) game again. There's a miserable shortage of difficult games these days. I'm not even talking about Ikaruga or DoDonPachi difficulty just something that doesn't have a fair/imp/magic rock holding your cock and being irritating as shit if you don't listen to it.

If you thought the game was too hard, keep in mind that you DO NOT have to place first in every race to win. I know you're used to that because of cheating fucking AI that you have to beat in every race because they'll always be second place or first if you fuck up, but in GX last race's first place could be this race's fifth.

Also, note the convenient "RIVAL" marker on the ship whose rank threatens yours. Further note that you are given aggressive combat tools, and that any ship who doesn't finish the race ends up with 0 points, effectively taking them out of the running.

Anyone whining that the game was too hard wasn't playing the game right. You can place consistently 3rd to 5th and win the cup.

The game was nowhere near too hard, it was just right. The easy cups were easy, the regular stuff made you sit up to play, and the hard stuff was *SHOCK* actually a challenge. Can't have that these days, not from Nintendo! If Miyamoto had made the game it'd be as ridiculously easy as the N64 and GC Mario Karts and have the worst fucking rubber band AI in the world. Fun for everyone!

EDIT: LOL at last place in the last few Mario Karts having a 99.9% chance of getting the blue shell. Now THAT is good game design! Rubber band AI, items not being randomized but rather dependent on your position in the race... yeah!! Miyamoto is so right!

I don't know why I'm this worked up over this, it's been pretty obvious for years now that Nintendo has completely abandoned their fans because they sucked too much against real competition from Sony and Microsoft and have been reduced to pandering to the very young, the elderly, or anyone else who completely lacks the ability to judge a video game based on experience, skill, or anything else worthwhile. Hay look I move the controller and the cursor moves on the screen lol! How do they do it!!

If you dislike F-Zero GX, shut up.

F-Zero GX is to arcade racers what Ninja Gaiden is to 3D action games.

Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  9. FZero GX's difficulty didn't get crazy until "Master" class which is for masters of course. I wonder if the game cheats in Master class for GX like it did in the 1st FZero master class.

  10. And to think a few years ago, while working with Mzo at EB Games, he came to the realization that he was probably going to die before Nintendo stopped making games so, thus, he could never die.

    What happened, Mzo? What happened?
