    It's a compendium of cool stuff that boys should know-

    Knots
    Paper airplanes
    Tripwires
    Codes
    Girls
    How to make a battery from $2.50 in quarters
    How to make a bow & arrow
    How to marble paper
    How to hunt & skin a rabbit
    How to tan the rabbit's skin
    Chess
    Poker
    Finding north with a stick and its shadow
    Dog training
    Coin tricks
    Basic first aid

    and lots more. The title alone caught my attention, as it's almost a direct attack on the "wrap your kids in bubble-wrap" parenting approach that seems so common. I'm glad I picked it up, it's a great read and highly recommended.

    Also: That's a seriously strange book title. I had NO idea what would be in this thread before I clicked it, but thought someone might be getting banned.

  5. Not so much "how to survive" so much as "how to get the hell away from the tv and do something!" There's a lot more to it than I listed, such as recommended books and such, so it's more than just some junior outdoorsman's guide.

    Besides, what good are listing the odds of drawing to a specific poker hand in an outdoors book?

  6. Sounds interesting to me.

    I think it's a good idea for boys to get the hell out and cause some trouble/damage/hurt themselves.

    I don't know about hunting and skinning rabbits, but I would definitely encourage any son I might have to do most of the other things in the book.
