I haven't seen this movie in a long time... I can't wait to watch it again.
This is one of my all time favorites. I can play the Baldwin scene on a daily basis and it still gets me pumped. The performances definitely live up to the terrific cast. One of the things I really love about this movie is its simplicity; the movie is shot in only four (I believe) settings (the office, the Spannel's home, the bar, and in the car) and is almost entirely performance driven. It's the sad tale of the working man, the has been, the guys who never quite "made it" in life. GGR is a modern day classic with enough quotables to hold a conversation with and though it hasn't quite reached mainstream popularity, it seems to be getting there as I've found that more people hold it in high regard than I would have thought.Originally Posted by Allmovie.com

I heard so many good things about the movie before I bought it a few months ago that I didn't think it would live up to the hype, but luckily, it did. Jack Lemmon has always been a favorite of mine, and he was terrific here, as was the rest of the leading cast. It isn't quite an all-time favorite yet, but it's close.
