Thread: Ghost Squad (Finally!)

  1. So? Have you played Gunblade NY? Having played both Gunblade and Elebits, I can assure you the feeling is identical apart from having a giant plastic gun mounted to the unit. I wouldn't want to do Time Crisis on Wii, but for something like LA Machineguns it would work just fine.

    Exactly. Having an on-screen cursor doesn't lend it self to the "ghost" part.

    It probably would, esp. when you can just hold down the trigger & keep firing.

    But surely, Sega will find a way to make the Wiimote work for GS. Hopefully this goes cross-platform sometime and a graphically kicked up PS3 version comes out so it can be played with the Time Crisis 4 gun.

    Other than the sniper scenes (where you need the dot cursor IMO) or the special events, I don't want any sort of cursor in this version. If there is one, hopefully it can be disabled.

  5. Time to kick this thread, now that GS is out here.

    I have the Japanese version, since I said fuck it and got an import Wii rather than dicking around with the crazy prices on US systems. You CAN kill the cursor from the pregame Customize menu. Just be sure to go to Options and calibrate.

    On the Wii GS, every Mission Level up to 16 can be unlocked for each Mission- it has the save system found on the card-reader equipped version, not this level 1-4 limitation. All the weapons and alternate outfits are there, and the graphics are pretty close if not outright perfect. The Wiimote does simulate recoil fairly well, especially when you're using the heavier machine guns.

    All we need now is a replica gun based on the big green monster you find on the arcade unit, even if it's a bit smaller- and maybe an alternate sensor setup for the Wii that mimics Time Crisis 4's Guncon 3 rig, where you can spread the two IR sensors based on your TV size.

    Never used the GunCon 3 (not out here yet) but it works well in this game. It's just sad that Sega outsourced this one, I really expected that the Wii could do XBOX level visuals....other than that, it's what I wanted. Now, we just need the other gun games which lack ports....

    Accuracy isn't bad with a good calibration. If you've got a larger TV set you may have to stand back quite a bit (hence my wish for a Guncon 3 type split sensor). When you're too close, you won't be able to shoot the calibration targets.

    I have to back up some from my 35" set to play it. It seems to me that Nintendo made their Wii sensor bar with maybe a 25" set in mind. Once Time Crisis 4 arrives, I may try letting my PS3 run at the same time to power the Guncon 3 IR LED things to use them instead of the Wii sensor bar. I can imagine this working.

  10. This is a pretty damn nice game. I'm glad I picked it up even with Time Crisis 4. In fact, I think both are quality games and must owns for light gun game fans. The Wii Zapper isn't terrible, it's just cheaply (not poorly) made, and I'd definitely rather use the Guncon 3 for Ghost Squad, though I do like that the Wii Zapper is naturally wireless. You can play fine without the Zapper, but I just need to hold a gun for these games. I haven't played Link's Crossbow training yet, so I can't comment on it.

    It's too bad about no widescreen, however. Otherwise, the Wii Zapper is just as accurate for me as the Guncon 3 has been for Time Crisis 4 at 8-10 feet away.
