Thread: Harrison: We'll Sell 35 Million Wiis in U.S. by 2012

Advancements in AI are probably the most exciting thing about the future of gaming. Bioshock should be brilliant, and I can only imagine how far NPC interaction and emergent gameplay will be several years from now.

Assuming decent frame rate, as long as the games is good it won't matter how the graphics age. I played Half Life for the 1st time like 2 years ago and it was a pristine example of how old graphics will NOT impede excellent games.

So unless you're a graphics whore a game should never become unplayable due to graphics being better now then when they were.

I want my games to look nice, if everything looks like shit it drags down my enjoyment of the game. Even if the core gameplay is intact it takes a lot for me to forget how ugly everything looks. If I can have jaw dropping games I want them. If I were to buy a wii that's pretty much telling developers it's ok to settle for less. Which is why I will never buy one.

With all that said I'm pretty forgiving with older games. But I have a limit of just how much ugly I can take, max payne and others break that limit. And with new stuff I just can't tolerate things looking like trash when they don't have to.

So Metroid Prime, Rallisport, and God of War looked like shit? Those visuals actually caused you to enjoy the those games less? Because that's where last gen hardware was at. Don't go bringing up PS2 launch games because the programmers had gotten waaaaaaay past that.

i wish but look how much we were promised with Fable and that totally didn't deliver.

on a side note, they still plan on selling fucking wii in 2012?

So, Cheebs, you're comparing the very best of the last generation to the first 18 months for one system and 6 months for the other of this generation? One set of rules for the discussion will work fine.

On a widescreen HDTV, they sure do.

Not then, but I have now seen better, and jaggy shitty 3D bugs me to no end.

Kneecaping graphics to knock $100-200 off a console price isnt going to help poor game design anyways. There will ALWAYS be shitty games, why limit the good games to shitty graphics?

    *slaps forehead*

You're right. In fact, it's a shame they "kneecaped" the graphics as much as they did. The Zboz and PS3 should have come in at $1400 each with MS and Sony eating $700 per console. THOSE would have been some graphics! Alas, we will have to suffer through the comparitively shitty graphics we currently have on the Zboz and PS3 and never know what could have been...
