Great upper body workout today, but I slept in and felt a little sluggish today so I bailed on cardio and feel lame about that. I needed a break from it anyway, but still wish I had gotten it in today.
Yeah, some of these numbers seem a little crazy. 100 push-ups? I consider myself pretty strong (when feeling especially randy I've gone up to 100 pound dumbbells when doing incline dumbbell presses, and that's after doing bench press first) and the most push-ups I've ever gotten is around 60 or so (and that shit was hard). Bear in mind that I weigh about 210, though.
A push-up starts with your chest flat on the floor and ends with your arms completely extended. Anything else and you're not doing a real push-up.

I forgot it's starting to get dark earlier now, so I had to cut my hike short...only got in about 35 minutes, but on that trail even 35 minutes of hiking is a solid workout. I didn't want to chance having to walk back with no light since there all sorts of rocks and roots sticking out of the ground. No pics, since it was already dusk when I set out.

I do pushups on handles, and bring my chest to the same level as the handles. My wrists do not allow me to do "real" pushups on the floor.
Today I bought padded gloves to attempt to slow the growth of the mountain ranges forming where my fingers meet my palms. I also did an hour of back. I also picked up a grip strengthening squeeze thing for $4.99. Soon I will be crushing apples in my hands like what's his name.
I should have played tennis tonight but whatever muscle I hurt is preventing that. Shitty.
Handles are great. You get greater ranger of motion and, as you say, a lot of stress is taken off of your wrists.
Regarding hiking, I do a lot here in SoCal, which has some premiere trails with extremely varied terrain. If any one is looking for foot gear, I bought a pair of Merrell's (Reflex) and they are righteous. Pic below -- to bad you can't see the sick treads. Actually, since I suck with the internet, you can't even see the fucking shoes. I'll work on that...

"Fiends! Animals! Bastards!"
I work in Merrell's. They're fucking amazing.
I have the same problem. Well, I personally don't mind but my gf does (she doesn't like how they feel). The problem is that I don't like wearing gloves because I feel I get a better grip without them. The only time I wear gloves is when I'm doing heavy pushing exercises, like bench press (I wear gloves with wrist wraps built in to protect my wrist joints). I've been using a pumice stone in the shower to sand down my calluses and corn husker's lotion to smooth them out but it's a pain in the ass. I guess I'll have to pick up a pair of snug regular gloves and just get used to them.

Gloves are shit IMO.
Pumice stone in the shower once a week to keep them manageable is plenty.
Unless they are ripping off and bleeding, you are just being whiny!
I do the pumice stone business. Flattened them right the fuck out, but it's not good enough. It is affecting my ability to play bass, which is completely unacceptable.
