Thread: These people have bugs coming out of their body, and nobody knows why.

  1. That movie Bug with Ashley Judd. It's about bugs invading people's bodies.
    Boo, Hiss.

Okay, here's the movie you're talking about.

Judd starts Agnes off as one of those earthy dames she excels at portraying. Then the actress simply tears the character apart, making her crazier and crazier, turning her apartment into a Howard Hughes-style maze of antiseptic insanity--with plastic covers over everything and purifying fires. Judd is so good we can feel her madness, and we pity her more because it's born partially out of loneliness and love.

Crooner Harry Connick Jr. is a good heavy, a seductive yet brutal guy reeking with narcissistic charisma. And Shannon, who played the stage role of Peter and looks like a weird cross between Ray Liotta and Anthony Perkins, is the main source of that shock wave of terror. Even before Peter begins to seem dangerous, his soft-spoken, seemingly rational explanations of the aphid plot and other horrors chill you to the bone.

What's the movie's truth? That bad dreams can drive us crazy? Or that on some level we're living in a horror movie? Friedkin, who specializes in both gritty realism and nervous fantasy horror, frequently gets both here. He shoots the fear-drenched lovers with a grim Edward Hopperesque starkness and intensity that evokes the horrors within and without.

  3. It's Jungian marketing. Instill the idea of bugs in the collective unconscious and people will see the film.
    Boo, Hiss.

  4. Errr. This piece was originally broadcast in February.

Don't think it's a marketing ploy. Could be a new disease.

You taste like a burger. I don't like you anymore.

  6. SOTC had similiar viral marketing in the form of a website about giant sightings. It was relatively obscure and I didn't make the connection till the Wiki pointed it out.

I mean movie studios have had dumber ideas than this, and the film house behind this has had fox finance their projects before, like the Day After Tomorrow. Fox studios is owned by news corp os there's at least a connection.

that my case for it anyway

  7. This seems extremely stupid. I don't fucking get it either.

Despite the fact that it was on the real news and all, just the speech and whatnot made it seem like the reporter wasn't really taking it seriously and his actions seemed much different then in other segments he does. I'm not really worried.

  8. How do they even get in there? Maybe it's a plague of some kind for g0zen's blasphemy.

    noob.

  10. Call me eternally skeptical. If you got someone to rub their hair, you'd be able to see bugs in the "dirt" regardless of their hygiene. There's also a long history of people who will constantly scratch and destroy their skin because they think there are bugs under/coming out of their skin, like meth addicts, it's called like eckbom's syndrome or something.

Otherwise if she has lots of body lice it could be just lyme disease.

I would understand if it was ONE new type on insect that is infecting these people; but that story starts explaining she thinks all these variety of bugs are coming out of her skin. Crazy IMO or poorly reported.
