Thread: Safari 3 BETA for Windows

  1. Safari 3 BETA for Windows

"The world's best browser. Now on Windows, too.

Today at WWDC 2007, Steve Jobs announced during his keynote speech that Safari, Mac OS X's standard browser, is now coming to Windows.

Experience the web, Apple style, with Safari; the fastest, easiest-to-use web browser in the world. With its simple, elegant interface, Safari gets out of your way and lets you enjoy the web - up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer."

I'm about to install it for fun, but, using a Mac primarily, I can't think of a good reason to switch to Safari if you're using Firefox.

Egh, it overrides Windows' font smoothing style. Everything's blurry...

  4. Safari kinda blows.

  5. How do you reconfigure the toolbars in this thing?

[edit] Fonts are now all ugly and my scroll wheel moves at about 1/10th of the speed that it does in every other program. Also, what are the keyboard shortcuts for moving between pages and all that?

[edit x2] The blink tag doesn't work, this browser is trash.

  6. The only good thing Safari has ever done is comply with all web standards. Besides that Mozilla still shits all over it, twice.

    Eat a bag of dicks.

  7. Safari is only good if you have Saft. Since I know of no Windows version of Saft, there's no reason to use this... yet.

It looks really, really weird on top of Vista-themed Windows. And it's not recognizing my mouse's forward/back buttons. Sticking with Firefox in Windows, thx.

Apple's other announcements today are pretty nice though! Should have seen this shit at MacWorld to begin with.

For serious. Leopard looks like hot sex. I can't wait to use it.

Cover flip in Finder blows my mind, assuming it works decently. I remember thinking that it was cool but somewhat useless in iTunes, and suddenly it now makes sense.

Collapsing items into the dock like that is great too. The reflective bits I can deal without. I like the dock to be on the quiet and unobtrusive side.

The collapsing items in the dock is an outstanding feature, but I'm really looking forward to the task grouping. It's going to make working in a few different programs at once so much easier. Now I finally won't have 10,000 tiny windows cluttering up my desktop.
