  1. News Square Enix Chief: PS3 and 360 'Mismatched' to Today's Environment

    Are the Xbox 360 and PS3 a bad fit for today's marketplace? Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada (right) thinks so. Wada called the platforms a "mismatch" for the gaming environment this year, but he thinks it will improve in a couple years. Wada, on the other hand, is a big believer in the DS.

    Why dont we just go back to Track Balls, '8 bit' graphics, and just keep multi player in the arcades because you know we have so many of those left over here.

    Why are old fuckers who arent in tune with current tech, in charge of decision making? Square Enix needs some youngblood to move the company forward I think.

    Sounds like "next-gen is too hard"...you know, God doesn't just say, "Hey in 2 years I will give you better stuff". You have to make it, then improve upon it, etc.

  6. Square does amazing stuff to consoles. By the end of each console generation their graphical development is so obviously strained by the limitations of what they're forced into that I don't think this guy is actually bothering to see what the rest of his company is doing. FFXII could've used the PS3 or 360 more than any other remaining last-gen game, it's truly a shame if this guy is actually making any platform decisions.

  7. I'm almost starting to agree with Joust now on certain things. The Japs just don't get it. Today's environment is moving faster than they realize. Now I'm starting to see what Joust is saying. Gee, thanks Square/Enix for making me realize how fucking ass backwards you guys really are.

  8. I'm sure he's just saying this as an excuse for why they're taking so long to release next-gen titles. The budgets are just so fucking large for the scale of titles that they create. As well as time-consuming.

    Maybe by "specs" he means too many SKUs. He might be right about that. As far as HDTV, broadband and deep knowledge, none of those are reasons the Wii is doing well. It's 90&#37; price. The competition will fare better in a year or two because of price drops, not HDTV adoption. BTW, hasn't (analog) HDTV been around in Japan for a while now?

    Nothing's changed. Those non/semi/casual gamers have always been there. They owned GBs/GBAs and now they own DSs and Wiis.
