  1. As you could probably tell by my posts about it in this thread, I had high hopes for the DCU Classics line, but so far they've been pretty disappointing due to the paint app problems. Every Red Tornado I've seen looks like the yellow lines aren't part of the costume, but rather mustard he smeared on it, and I passed on at least three Batmen before finally finding one that didn't have either a molding problem or a big blue smudge on his chest.

    Conclusion: even great sculpts from The Four Horsemen can't counterbalance Mattel's inherent suckitude.

  2. Unfortunately, I would have to agree.

    The Iron Man line-up doesn't look too bad in-person, but I'm not sold on the $10 price tag everyone wants for it.

    Somehow I missed when the TRU exclusive GI Joe figures started. Managed to track down the "Snake Eyes VS Red Ninjas" 5-pack, the "Cobra Night Watch" 5-pack, and the Cobra Crimson Guard (one of the three "Senior Ranking Officers" 3-packs.) Wouldn't mind running across the Joe's Senior Ranking Officers with the new mold of Gen. Hawk and a basic Grunt figure.

  6. re: the G I Joes vehicles, I was perusing a Target last weekend, and they had one of each of those vehicles. I was debating about whether to buy them or not, when I noticed not a single one of them had the figure in them. Some asshat had opened them and taken the figure out.

  7. Not shocked. Some dipshit in the area buys all the new exclusive toys, takes out the new figures & replaces them with cheap knock-offs, and then returns them to the store to get their money back. Set after set of Star Wars figures especially are ripped off like this. How fucking stupid is the staff not to pick up on this detail when the package includes detailed pictures of the figure?


    re: the GI Joe vehicles. The Night Specter isn't bad. It was originally a white-painted underwater Joe vehicle. Grand Slam is a repaint of GI Joe Flash. I didn't open up the Striker, but it looks cool. Both use the original toy molds.

    The HISS tank is originally HISS III (the TRU 2K exclusive repaint of the original HISS) and is fucking awesome. I grabbed two. Figure is suppose to be an Infantry Driver, but he's based on the TRU Cobra Night Watch camo uniform style and not the full gray released in the Cobra Legions box set. I like it. Rip-It (the original driver of the HISS III) is packaged with the standard black HISS tank coming out in July. The original red HISS tank driver will be on shelves in May.

    None of the figures come with weapons except for the Joe packaged with the Striker. He comes with a knife (it uses the Cobra soldier default legs). Ironically, neither Infantry Driver comes with a knife.

  9. In the Hasbro release information for the rest of the year detailing various things, there is a listing called Hall of Fame. Under this listing, there is a single carded figure under the name of Specialist Trakker. Speculation is that it is none other than Matt Trakker, leader of a secret organization known as M.A.S.K.

    Could be cool.

    Seriously, you're reminding me of the kid from Terkkies who tells the fat dude at the Star Trek con about how the figure he's trading has the legs from The Cage Spock.

    As for HISS tanks, I remember there was a black one, and maybe a red or orange one. If it was a repaint or a knock-off or if it used treads from the fucking MOBAT, I wouldn't fucking know.
