Why did the Robotech cartoon that came on after school in the 80's have transforming mechs?
because it was made up of three animes, all three of each having transforming vehicles.
But Macross and Robotech are not the same thing. They changed a lot of key plot points, making Robotech a lot more prowar.
So over here it was Robotech? To me that means it's a Robotech toy. Kind of like how Transformers are Transformers and not Diaclones or Micromans.

If Pride and Prejudice never came out in the states, was unknown to all but a small sub-sect of fans, the Zombie edition was released as "Pride and Prejudice" and shown in installments on afternoon tv when I was 7 then yeah, sure.
