Sony CEO: PS3 is 'Making a Comeback Already'

The PS3 may be down, but it's certainly not out, according to Sony CEO Howard Stringer (right). The Sony chief said that the PS3 is already on the comeback trail and it's going to be vital to the company's growth. Meanwhile SCE President Kaz Hirai promised that 380 games are on the way by next March. [Update: Over 145 games in the U.S.]

I think the PS3 first has to succeed before it can have a comeback.

The article is from a shareholders meeting speech, and kind of omits the context in which he was speaking. He was talking to shareholders abot Sony as a whole; they've done very well with Sony/Ericsson cellphones, Bravias and Cybershots, and the company as a whole is much healthier than they were after being in rough shape for a while.

As for the PS3, the hardware is now profitable and Blu ray has pretty much stomped HD DVD. There's your comeback.
