One of the biggest things that really drives me away from the company of really liberal people is their stubborn defense of Islam; I detest it as I would any religion yet I get treated like an arch-conservative the second I bash it, even by fellow atheists.

That's because they can't bring themselves to denounce a group of people so dedicated to destroying the United States.

Personally I'm tired of the labels "liberal" and "conservative" because they don't seem to mean anything anymore. Liberals should support the spreading of democracy, secular governments, and free markets but they don't. Conservatives should support small government, minimizing government spending, and keeping government out of the social arena but they don't.

Well, it's more like they automatically assume I'm supporting an agenda as soon as I say anything negative about Islam. In the example I mentioned, I could be like, "I really think Muslim women should have the same property ownership rights blah blah blah," and then I'll be told, "You're just using equality as a cover for an underlying neocon agenda to eliminate Islam."

It was funny to me, then, when icarusfall gave me the, "I hate everyone equally bullshit," label, since it's the polar opposite of what I usually get.
