EVERY one came up to me and shook my hand. I have never felt so humbled before. They were so appreciative. I told them over and over that I was thank full for what they do (all of them were 3+ years in) and that if I could make their time out a little bit better than it's all worth it. Of course it didn't hurt that I got one of the girls numbers as well =)
I never had the sack to do what they do but I will always respect the hell out of our Armed Forces.
My mom does a lot of shit for the Marines (fundraising, sending care packages, feeding injured ones at Walter Reed, etc.) and has received letters from Generals thanking her for what she's done for them. She feels the same way you did when you bought them a round. I haven't done as much, but I do try to say "Thank you" whenever I see them or anyone else in the military. Those guys and gals go through some serious shit while I'm at work posting on TNL.
