Thread: Life Is Good

Open heart bypass surgery is scary shit. My grandpa went through that...he's not really that okay anymore though. He's had several strokes since then and he's mildly senile.

I'm glad your DAD is doing well man.

  4. lol, nice reason.

  5. read before the edit, what a cocktard.

  6. Just got back because he was going to take a nap, but he is doing incredibly well today. He was eating solid food (again, something they didn't think would be possible yet), had most of his tubes taken out, and get this, actually walked (with a walker) all the way around the office he was moved to. Walking a few hundred feet 2 FREAKING DAYS after a quadruple bypass surgery. My god that is awesome, I am so proud of him. His older sister (my aunt Donna) arrived today from Deleware and was there when I arrived with Rachael, and he was just glowing with happiness to see everyone. His older brother (my uncle Carl) will be arriving around midnight tonight from New Hampshire and will visit him tomarrow. The walk really tired him out and he said it made his chest hurt a bit, but he said he feels great, no longer needs an oxygen mask, and is taking big breaths with a little contraption that makes it harder to do so while also giving his lungs some medecine (that also tires him out, but he's really pushing through this thing). They updated his time of leaving to sometime on Friday, which is just great. My mom's best friend Nancy is bringing him dinner tonight and he's incredibly happy to be back on solid foods. The coughing is still giving him pain, but he hasn't even been doing that much anymore. He was able to teach my aunt how to do Sudoku today and was again just being his normal funny self. He is currently working two jobs, one of them Wegmans, and his boss called today to see how he was and asked if we needed anything. I said keep him in your hearts and (jokingly) said that we always accept food donations. The guy said that's what they do, and is having one of his coworkers deliver dinner for 4 to us tonight. I'm in awe of the amazing support we have going on here.
And he loved reading what you guys were saying. Thanks dudes.

Barring some crazy incident it looks like he's going to be fine and make a full recovery, he's already said that he's absolutely quitting smoking for good this time and that he will drastically cut down on drinking if not cut it out completely. So I'll try not to keep cluttering the boards unless something really out of the ordinary happens, or if something really awesome happens.
    Thanks again.

  7. Again, amazing news. It's great to hear that your dad is recovering well.

Also, Wegman's is the fucking best. When I was in school I would go there 4-5 times a week, not even for shopping, just to eat the amazing food they make there. Plus it's supposed to be one of the best companies in the country to work for (edit: Yep, it's number 3).

  8. I was a helping hands there, did not enjoy the job, but I did enjoy the people I worked with, and getting to choose what to eat for lunch each day from literally almost anything on earth.

Oh shit, I think dinner is here!

Like getting machine gun arms put on? He should totally ask for those. THAT would be post-worthy, as it would be out of the ordinary AND totally awesome.

Very fucking sweet man! Glad to hear he's healing so fast and doing very well. Just keep him on his promise to quit smoking and such.
